Leg lifting for Cleaning & Trimming

Lifting legs for hoof care is an essential part in your horse’s training. We need to clean their hoofs, check them and let the farrier do his work safely (trims and shoeing). There also can be times the vet needs to handle your horse’s feet, for instance when your horse has a hoof abscess.

Teaching your horse to lift his legs for a procedure is not easy and many horses have had bad experiences. In that case we need to counter condition the negative association and turn it into a positive one.

This course provides you with a training plan to train lifting legs for cleaning and trims, using positive reinforcement.
